§ Mrs. GillanTo ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs when he expects to reply to the Australian request of August 1993 for a contribution to the Australian settlement of the Nauru rehabilitation claim.
§ Mr. GoodladThe United Kingdom Government has made an ex gratia payment to Australia of A$12 million in respect of the Australia/Nauru settlement agreement of 10 August 1993. In return Australia has agreed not to pursue any further claims against the United Kingdom on this matter. The British Government have accepted no liability with respect to any claims made by Nauru or Australia.
