Mr. Ron Davies

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will list those representations that have been made to him favouring the inclusion of Llanelly in the proposed new unitary authority of Powys.

Mr. Redwood

Since publication of the Local Government (Wales) Bill, I have received representations about the inclusion of Llanelly in the proposed Powys unitary authority from:

  • Powys county council
  • Blaenau Gwent borough council
  • Llanelly community council
  • Roger Evans MP

Mr. Ron Davies

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will list those representations that have been made to him favouring the inclusion of Pentyrch in the proposed new unitary authority of Cardiff.

Mr. Redwood

Since publication of the White Paper "Local Government in Wales: A Charter for the Future", I have received one representation from Taff Ely borough council expressing opposition to the inclusion of Pentyrch in the proposed Cardiff unitary authority. Cardiff city council has written to express its support for the proposals in the White Paper, as have many members of the public.
