(2) how and by whom his Department was first made aware that Joy Gardner was still in the United Kingdom after her six months visa had expired; and from what other sources he later received the same information.
§ Mr. Charles WardleThe Immigration Department first became aware that Mrs. Gardner was still in the United Kingdom after expiry of her leave to enter when her husband visited the public inquiry office in Croydon on 11 September 1990 and applied on her behalf for leave to remain on the basis of marriage. This was the only source from which the information that she had overstayed was received.
