To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will introduce legislation to allow adult victims of sexual offences to give evidence by video link, subject to judicial discretion; and if he will make a statement.

The Government have no plans to introduce such legislation, but we have undertaken to review the position of vulnerable adult witnesses following the completion of research into the effectiveness of new provisions relating to the evidence of children, which were introduced by the Criminal Justice Act 1991.
