HL Deb 28 March 1994 vol 553 c41WA
Lord Brougham and Vaux

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What steps it is taking to reform the procedures for handling cases in the High Court and the county courts.

The Lord Chancellor (Lord Mackay of Clashfern)

I have asked Lord Woolf to examine the procedures used in the civil courts. Lord Woolf will aim to improve access to justice and reduce the cost of litigation. He will also seek to reduce complexity and modernise terminology.
