To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he will make a statement on the progress of delivery of vehicles and containers for the transport and storage of nuclear weapons in the former Soviet Union.

§ Mr. Aitken
Good progress is being made towards the provision of 250 nuclear weapons containers (supercon-tainers) and 20 vehicles which are being gifted to Russia to help with the disposal of surplus nuclear weapons. We expect deliveries of the first equipment to commence shortly. The estimated cost of the total package is £35 million at current prices.
