To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland how many secondary pupils are currently being educated in(a) comprehensive schools, (b) independent schools, (c) special schools and (d) other schools; and if he will make a statement.

Provisional information on the numbers of secondary pupils in Scotland at September 1993 is given in the table. All education authority and grant-aided secondary schools in Scotland are non-selective.
