To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment how many companies have applied to the competent bodies of other EC member states for ecolabels for dishwashers and washing machines.

As yet, no EC ecolabels have been awarded by competent bodies in other member states. All applications for ecolabels are treated in confidence until an award is made.

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment how many companies have applied to the United Kingdom Ecolabelling Board for ecolabels for dishwashers and washing machines.

In November, the United Kingdom Ecolabelling Board awarded the EC ecolabel to three washing machines in Hoover Limited's "New Wave" range. All applications for ecolabels are treated in confidence until an award is made and as yet no further awards have been made.
