HC Deb 23 March 1994 vol 240 cc315-6W
Mr. Morley

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales how many licence applications he has received for the killing of cormorants or goosanders to prevent serious damage to fisheries in the last year; how many have been granted; how many are still to be determined; and which river or locality is involved in each case.

Mr. Redwood

The Department has received two applications relating to the river Usk, and one each for the river Wye, the river Dovey and Llyn Cefni on Anglesey. All five applications have been rejected. Two applications for the Usk have yet to be determined.

Mr. Gwilym Jones

I refer the hon. Member to the press release I issued on 15 March, a copy of which is in the Library of the House.
