HC Deb 22 March 1994 vol 240 c154W
18. Mr. Austin Mitchell

To ask the Secretary of State for Health how she proposes to ensure that the Grimsby health trust does not give priority to the patients of fundholding GPs.

Dr. Mawhinney

Joint guidance issued by the Department of Health and the medical profession in June 1991 clearly states that hospitals should not offer contracts to one purchaser that disadvantage the patients of another. However, hospitals may offer spare capacity to any purchaser who wishes to buy it, including fundholders.
