HC Deb 21 March 1994 vol 240 c31W
Mr. Allen

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will make a statement on his policy on the proposed change to the European Court of Human Rights' treatment of human rights cases.

Mr. Charles Wardle

As I said in my reply to the hon. Member for Brent, South (Mr. Boateng) on 24 February,Official Report, column 314, the Government are contributing fully to work within the Council of Europe on the reform of the European Commission and Court of Human Rights by their replacement by a single court, with the aim of enabling the increasing number of cases to be dealt with more speedily while maintaining the highest standards of jurisprudence.
