§ Dr. MawhinneyHealth centres are furnished by district health authorities under the terms of section 21 of the National Health Service Act 1946, and provide66W community health care. Some general practitioners, about a quarter, practise from them, but may use them partly in conjunction with their own premises.
The number of health centres per 1,000 of the population for the areas in question at 1 April 1993 is shown in the table:
