HC Deb 18 March 1994 vol 239 cc873-4W
Mr. Luff

To ask the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster if he will make a statement on the employment of disabled people in the civil service.

Mr. David Davis

The annual report on the progress in the employment of disabled people in the civil service is presented in the magazine "Independent" published today.

The report shows that during 1993 8,384—1.5 per cent.—registered disabled people were employed in the civil service departments and agencies, a small increase over 1992. In addition to this, the civil service employs many more disabled people who choose not to register as disabled.

I am arranging for copies of "Independent" to be placed in the Library of the House.
