HL Deb 16 March 1994 vol 553 c12WA
Lord Barnett

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What arrangements they have made to ensure that public sector employees who left their occupational pension schemes were given appropriate advice.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of Employment (Lord Henley)

Public service pension schemes provide appropriate information to enable employees to make informed decisions about their future pension provision. In the wider public sector, the arrangements are a matter for the nationalised industries themselves. The Department of Social Security leaflet (PP1) "Thinking about a personal pension?", offers general guidance to those who are considering opting out of an occupational pension scheme into a personal pension scheme.
