HC Deb 16 March 1994 vol 239 c697W
Mr. Ieuan Wyn Jones

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what is his estimate of administration costs for family health service authorities for Wales as a whole for each year since 1989–90, indicating the percentage increase in constant prices which has taken place since 1989–90 and the latest available year.

Mr. Gwilym Jones

Revenue expenditure of family health service authorities in Wales on administration was £4,242,000 in 1989–90, £6,910,000 in 1990–91, £8,265,000 in 1991–92 and £9,150,000 in 1992–93.

This represents an increase over the period of 81 per cent. at constant prices. In 1992–93 the cost of this administrative expenditure represented 1.9 per cent. of the total spent on family health services in Wales.
