To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, pursuant to her answer to the hon. Member for Congleton (Mrs. Winterton) of 6 December,Official Report, column 106, if she still plans to implement the provisions of the EC directive on infant formulae and follow-on formulae by 1 June.

Mr. Soames

The implementation date of 1 June 1994 has been commented on during the consultation on the United Kingdom draft regulations. A decision on the final form of the regulations, including the coming into force date, will be announced once the Government have carefully considered all the comments received.
