To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, pursuant to his answer of 2 March,Official Report, column 735, what was the cost of (a) the February 1993 phase and (b) the September 1993 phase of the car crime prevention campaign.

The campaign did not run during February 1993. There was a burst of national television advertising during January 1993, which cost £500,000.

A further burst of national advertising and promotions ran from May to the middle of September 1993 on television, posters, bus-sides, local press and radio at a cost of £3,419,185.
