HC Deb 14 March 1994 vol 239 cc503-4W
Mr. Boateng

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he or his officials have(a) requested or (b) received advice from the Attorney-General or his officials concerning the legality of the procedures by which he is seeking to reform the Criminal Injuries Compensation Board.

Mr. Maclean

It is the convention neither to confirm nor deny having sought or received the advice of the Attorney-General on legal matters.

Mr. Boateng

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department when he last met the Attorney-General and if the legality of the procedures by which he is seeking to reform the Criminal Injuries Compensation Board was discussed at that meeting.

Mr. Maclean

The Home Secretary and the Attorney-General meet regularly. Their last formal bilateral meeting was on 21 September 1993. It is not the practice to disclose what matters are discussed when they meet.
