To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food for what reasons the United Kingdom did not apply for derogation on the moisture content of cereals in the 1993 harvest.

The state of interventionable grain at harvest did not justify the application of the moisture content derogation on this occasion.

Mr. Pawsey

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food which major cereal-producing countries in the EC obtained derogation on the moisture content of the 1993 cereal harvest.

Mr. Jack

Of the four largest cereal producers in the EC, France and Germany both obtained the moisture content derogation for the 1993 harvest. Italy and the United Kingdom did not apply.
