4. Children may also be treated in the Community and Hospital Dental Service as well as in the General Dental Services.

There is also some non-fee expenditure on general dental services (eg reimbursement of non-domestic rates, maternity payments, and employers' superannuation payments) which cannot be apportioned between child and adult treatments. In the financial year 1992–93, this represented 4 per cent. of expenditure on the GDS.
