HC Deb 10 March 1994 vol 239 c378W
Mr. Wallace

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what information he has regarding(a) the number of schools without a constituted school board and (b) unfilled school board vacancies in each local education authority area in Scotland as at 28 February.

Mr. Lang

Statistics are currently being collected on the number of schools with and without a school board, following the 1993–94 round of biennial parental elections. The information will be published in a statistical bulletin in late spring. The most up-to-date figures available, relating to May 1992 and based on the 1991–92 round of elections, show that 657 schools in Scotland did not have school boards.

Information on the number of unfilled school board vacancies is not held centrally.
