HL Deb 10 March 1994 vol 552 cc20-1WA
Lord Molloy

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will discuss the problems of deafness due to military service and the erosion of war pension preference with officers of the Royal British Legion.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of Social Security (Viscount Astor)

I met a delegation from the Royal British Legion on 18 October 1993. During the meeting we discussed the introduction into the war pensions scheme of a disablement threshold in respect of noise-induced sensorineural hearing loss.

There has been no erosion of war pensions preferences.
