§ Mr. CorbynTo ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what representations he has received concerning the safety of the convictions of the Bridgewater Three; and when he plans to make a statement.
§ Mr. MacleanA number of representations have been received from hon. Members and others about the safety of these convictions. The latest representations from the men's solicitors were received between June 1993 and February 1994. We understand that more may follow. We have asked the police to make inquiries into some of the matters raised. When those inquiries have been completed, my right hon. and learned Friend will consider, in the light of all the information available, whether there are grounds on which it would be right for him to take action in respect of any of the convictions.
