HC Deb 08 March 1994 vol 239 cc100-1W
Mr. Nicholas Brown

To ask the Secretary of State for National Heritage what plans he has to introduce legislation to clarify the BBC's existing obligation to carry a daily sound broadcast report of Parliament by stating the wavelengths on which the broadcast shall be carried; and what plans he has for legislation to extend the BBC's existing obligation in respect of sound broadcasts to television.

Mr. Brooke

None. The BBC is responsible for deciding how to use the frequencies allocated to it, including the editorial content and scheduling of its programmes, under the terms of its royal charter and licence and agreement. I am sure that the BBC will have taken note of the concern which has been expressed in Parliament about its daily reports of proceedings.
