HC Deb 08 March 1994 vol 239 c211W
Mr. Winnick

To ask the President of the Board of Trade from what sources he receives outside legal advice for his departmental duties.

Mr. Heseltine

[holding answer 7 March 1994]: In the first place I look to the solicitor to the Department of Trade and Industry and his staff. I also have access, where necessary, to advice from the law officers. In cases where special expertise is required or where the effective use of resources makes this desirable, I make use of the services of the Treasury Solicitor's Department and of the Bar or solicitors in private practice.
