HC Deb 04 March 1994 vol 238 c910W
Mr. Wigley

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what representations he has received concerning the appointments of Mr. Geoff Drake both as a member of the board of TARGED, the training and enterprise council for north-west Wales, and also to the post of chairman designate of the Gwynedd health trust; what consultations his office made before confirming these appointments; what further investigations on consultations have been undertaken as a result of representations; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Redwood

[holding answer 9 February 1994]: I have received one letter requesting information about the chairman of the Gwynedd hospitals NHS trust, a letter from the hon. Member for Cardiff, West (Mr. Morgan), a letter from the clerk of Llanrug community council, in addition to two letters from the hon. Member about Mr. Geoffrey Drake.

I am confident that Mr. Drake's skills and experience in industry and his membership of the Gwynedd health authority from November 1992 to December 1993, make him eminently suitable for the post he holds.

I am not responsible for appointments to TARGED which is a private company limited by guarantee and as such elects its own directors.
