HC Deb 04 March 1994 vol 238 cc909-10W
Mr. Morgan

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what consultations he has had with the chairmen of the health authorities in Wales concerning the disposition of the £1 million waiting list initiative funds; in which hospitals it will be spent and in which principal specialties; and what is his current estimate of its impact on waiting list levels.

Mr. Redwood

The allocation of moneys between hospitals and specialties is a matter for health authorities to decide upon in the light of local need and circumstances. Their use of the allocation will be subject to formal evaluation by my Department, in the normal way.

The funding should ensure that all of the patients charter waiting times guarantees are met by 31 March.
