§ Dr. David Clark
To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he will make it his policy to ask the Commission for Racial Equality to investigate equal opportunities policies in the armed forces; and if he will make a statement.

§ Mr. Hanley
It is our policy to offer equal opportunities to all racial groups but we do consult the Commission for Racial Equality when we require advice on race relations issues.

§ Dr. David Clark
To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, pursuant to his answer of 10 February,Official Report, column 482, if he will make it his policy to announce the results of his consideration of whether or not to publish a breakdown of the ethnic origins of serving personnel by regiment or unit.

§ Mr. Hanley
Yes, when a decision is made in due course.
