§ 30. Mr. Alan HowarthTo ask the Chairman of the Public Accounts Commission what proportion of the budget of the National Audit Office will be spent on cost-benefit analysis in 1993–94 and 1994–95.
§ Sir Peter HordernIn 1992–93 the National Audit Office delivered 51 major value-for-money outputs, which comprised about half the work of the NAO, and plans to continue deliveries at the same level in future. The selection of topics for investigation is based on a systematic review of expenditure and value for money. The NAO's investigations employ cost-benefit analysis techniques where appropriate, but it is not possible to isolate the costs of such analyses.
