To ask the Secretary of State for Transport when he expects to make an announcement about the Blackwall third crossing.

We still need to give a good deal of thought to what we should do to respond to the public consultation exercise. Considerable concern was expressed about the environmental consequences of the bridge option. But I also recognise that development of the Greenwich peninsula and other areas of docklands could be hampered by ever-increasing congestion at the current Blackwall crossings. I will make an announcement in due course.
