HC Deb 04 March 1994 vol 238 cc71-2W
Mr. Tony Banks

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, pursuant to her answer of 7 February,Official Report, columns 108–09, if she will give reasons in each case for the granting of licences to kill greenfinches, robins and blackbirds in 1990, and robins, blackbirds, thrush, blue tits and wrens in 1992.

Mr. Soames

In each case, the birds were shot for the purpose of preserving public health when they had become trapped inside premises where food supplies were at risk of contamination and where non-lethal methods of removing the birds were ineffective or impractical.
