HC Deb 04 March 1994 vol 238 c906W
Mr. Donohoe

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what assessment he has made as to how many of those pupils currently covered by the assisted places scheme would have entered private education without the support offered by the scheme.

Sir Wyn Roberts

No such assessment has been made. It is unlikely that numbers would be high. Over 40 per cent. of parents in Wales pay no contribution to fees because of the low level of their incomes.
