§ Lord Swinfenasked Her Majesty's Government:
Whether, having agreed that British troops in Bosnia should be fed on UN rations rather than British Army rations, they are satisfied that those troops will receive a satisfactory diet and sufficient hot food for the weather conditions in which they are required to operate.
The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Ministry of Defence (Viscount Cranborne)British troops in Bosnia are still receiving British Army rations. The decision to move to UN rations will depend on the outcome of the two-month trial due to take place at Tomislavgrad. However, I am satisfied that the dietary need of British troops in Bosnia will not be affected should such a decision be taken; the UN scale of rationing is similar to our own and allows for national preferences to be taken into account.
