1 An additional 34 cases were favourably settled by Complaints Officers before any Legal Officers were involved. Figures were not collected on these settlements for previous years.
2 The 1993 figure includes 78 individual cases against one Yorshire textile company (Haggas) where claims of discrimination by night shift workers were upheld.

In 1991–92 the CRE spent £800,000 on legal and professional fees. The costs were £1,400,000 in 1992–93 and are expected to be in the region of £1,000,000 for the current financial year.
