HL Deb 30 June 1994 vol 556 c56WA
Lord Aberdare

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will specify by geographical location and size in acres those areas within Cardiff City Council boundary where sites suitable for the creation of 1,000 or more jobs as a result of industrial and commercial development are, and will be, available in the next 10 years.

Viscount St. Davids

Through the development plan system, local authorities are responsible for bringing forward industrial and commercial development land. On the basis of returns by local authorities, the Welsh Office maintains a list of industrial sites. This does not record the number of jobs which each site might be able to accommodate, since this would depend on a wide range of factors. Assuming, for illustration, an average of 20 jobs per acre, the following sites should be able to accommodate over 1,000 jobs:

Acres
Cypress Drive, St. Mellons 132
Ferry Road Business Park 55
Wentloog 125
Wentloog Industrial Estate 88
Trowbridge Mawr 57
North Pentwyn 92
