HL Deb 27 June 1994 vol 556 c34WA
Lord Harris of Greenwich

asked Her Majesty's; Government:

What issues are currently being examined by the advisory committee on vehicle crime, and when they propose to publish their conclusions.

Earl Ferrers

This body now operates as a working group of the National Board for Crime Prevention and, in general terms, is working to secure the co-operation of all parties in tackling vehicle crime. In particular, it is seeking to ensure co-ordination and consistency in vehicle security standards, to tighten up some of the: loopholes in the vehicle registration and licensing process, and to look at how the insurance industry might further contribute to the fight against vehicle crime.

This work is on-going, but the group reports regularly to the national board and the Government will seek to highlight its conclusions wherever possible.
