§ Mr. Heathcoat-AmoryThe Government remain firmly committed to the sugar protocol to the Lomé convention, which provides levy-free access to the European Union at guaranteed prices, negotiated annually, for 1.3 million tonnes of cane sugar from African, Caribbean and Pacific countries. Of the Caribbean countries, Barbados, Jamaica, Guyana and St. Kitts benefit from this protocol.
