HC Deb 27 June 1994 vol 245 c413W
Mr. Llwyd

To ask the Secretary of State for Health how many ambulances there are per head of population in(a) Wales, (b) Scotland, (c) Northern Ireland, (d) England and (e) the United Kingdom; and if she will make a statement.

Mr. Sackville:

It is for individual ambulance services to determine the number of ambulances which meet the requirements. Total numbers of vehicles in England and Wales are not available centrally.

I understand that Scotland has 92 accident and emergency ambulances per million population and that Northern Ireland has 80 accident and emergency ambulances per million population.
