HC Deb 23 June 1994 vol 245 c267W
Ms Walley

To ask the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster if he will discuss with the RSI group in north Staffordshire a research proposal to increase awareness and understanding of RSI.

Mr. Waldegrave

The main agency through which the Government support biomedical and clinical research is the Medical Research Council, which receives its funding from the Office of Science and Technology within my Department.

I understand that the MRC is not currently supporting any research specifically into repetitive strain injury, but officials from the council are always willing to discuss and consider scientifically based, sound proposals. The prospects for funding of research into RSI will therefore depend on the nature and quality of any applications received.
