To ask the Secretary of State for Health what research she has undertaken into the effectiveness of the drug Beta Interferon in treating multiple sclerosis.

Mr. Bowis

The Department is currently discussing this matter with interested parties, including the Medical Research Council, which receives its grant-in-aid from my right hon. Friend the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, and the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
