§ Mr. MorleyTo ask the Secretary of State for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what plans she has to change the minimum values for horses being exported abroad.
§ Mr. SoamesThe Animal Health Act 1981, and orders made under the Act, require a minimum valuation to be provided for certain categories of equines before a welfare export licence is issued. There are exemptions for thoroughbred horses certified by the Jockey Club and other horses intended for breeding, riding, exhibition, jumping and polo are also exempted. I have no plans to change these arrangements.
