HC Deb 23 June 1994 vol 245 c317W
Mr. Morley

To ask the Secretary of State for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what plans she has to change the minimum values for horses being exported abroad.

Mr. Soames

The Animal Health Act 1981, and orders made under the Act, require a minimum valuation to be provided for certain categories of equines before a welfare export licence is issued. There are exemptions for thoroughbred horses certified by the Jockey Club and other horses intended for breeding, riding, exhibition, jumping and polo are also exempted. I have no plans to change these arrangements.
