To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what will be the effect of enlargement of the EU on the British fishing industry.

In my reply of 22 March to my hon. Friend the Member for St. Ives (Mr. Harris),Official Report, columns 120–22. I set out the fisheries implications for the United Kingdom and the other member states of the European Union, of Norwegian Accession. Swedish quotas in the North sea will be consolidated at the average for the period 1989 to 1993, while the arrangements for Swedish and Finnish market access will be the same as for Norway.
