To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what is the number and total cost of merit awards currently made to consultants for each health authority in Wales.

Responsibility for funding the cost of existing and new awards was devolved to health authorities in 1991–92. Information on the number and total cost of merit awards currently made to consultants for each health authority in Wales is not held centrally.
