To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) when he will publish the 1993 report on race and the criminal justice system under the Criminal Justice Act 1991;

(2) when he will publish the 1993 report on costs of the criminal justice system under the Criminal Justice Act 1991;

(3) when he will publish the 1993 report on gender and the criminal justice system under the Criminal Justice Act 1991.

My right hon. and learned Friend's responsibility under section 95 of the Criminal Justice Act 1991 is in each year to publish information as he considers expedient to assist persons engaged in the administration of criminal justice to avoid discrimination—whether on the basis of race, gender or any other improper grounds—and to enable them to be aware of the financial implications of their decisions. Information about race and gender issues was published in 1992, and information on costs in 1993. This year we have published a paper on gender; and a larger publication dealing with race will be published in July.
