HL Deb 20 June 1994 vol 556 cc2-3WA
Lord Swinfen

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether all British Forces in Bosnia are able to receive British Forces Broadcasts and, if not, what steps are being taken to remedy the situation.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretory of State, Ministry of Defence (Viscount Cranborne)

The Services Sound and Vision Corporation transmits from the UK, via satellite, radio and TV programmes for British Forces overseas. The area within the satellite footprint includes the whole of Bosnia. However, there are isolated detachments and troops deployed to areas away from their bases who are not able to receive SSVC broadcasts. In such cases, where feasible, the alternative of playing back recorded programmes exists.
