In 1991, the Department issued guidance entitled "Quality Assurance in Radiotherapy" which set out 18 requirements to be maintained to ensure quality in radiotherapy treatment. This guidance has been considered in two radiotherapy centres and the results set out in the document "Quality Assurance in Radiotherapy—A Quality Management System for Radiotherapy", which has recently been widely circulated.
