HC Deb 14 June 1994 vol 244 cc453-4W
Mr. Dunnachie

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will release immediate dedicated funding to enable Scottish local authorities to provide more homes that are suited to the needs of elderly and disabled persons; and if he will make a statement.

Lord James Douglas-Hamilton

Substantial resources totalling some £426 million have been made available to local authorities in 1994–95 for investment to meet the housing needs of their areas. These allocations are generally not earmarked for specific purposes and it is for local authorities themselves to determine how to utilise the resources available to them, including the level of expenditure on the provision of housing suited to the needs of the elderly and disabled.
