HC Deb 14 June 1994 vol 244 cc354-5W
Mr. Kirkwood

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer in what circumstances it is his Department's practice, when issuing a public consultation document, to inform those consulted that their responses will be made public unless they explicitly ask for them to be kept confidential; and if he will arrange for his Department to do so in all cases in future.

Mr. Nelson

No consistent pattern has been followed in the past. It is now the Treasury's policy, when issuing a public consultation document, to ensure that those responding are aware that their responses may be made publicly available unless they have requested otherwise.
