HC Deb 14 June 1994 vol 244 c376W
Mr. Watson

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what assessment she has made as to whether the NHS Pensions Agency policy in respect of myalgic encephalomyelitis sufferers is in line with her Department's position on the likelihood of recovery from myalgic encephalomyelitis; and what action she plans to take.

Mr. Sackville

The prognosis for any illness is a matter of clinical judgment in individual cases. The statutory requirement for the early payment of national health service pension benefits is that a person must be permanently incapable of discharging efficiently the duties of his or her employment.
