To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what has been the authorised establishment of the Ministry of Defence police for each of the last five years; and what is its proposed establishment for each of the next five years.

The establishment of the Ministry of Defence police for the last five years is:

It is not our practice to speculate on our likely future manpower requirements.

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what plans he has to change the role of the Ministry of Defence police.

Mr. Hanley

The future role of the Ministry of Defence police is under consideration as part of the study being conducted by Sir John Blelloch and his team. The final report is currently expected at the end of this month.
